National Energy Globe award Greece

The Energy Globe is today’s most important environmental prize with 177 participating countries and annually more than 1500 project entries. It is given in recognition of outstanding performance in terms of energy efficiency, renewable energy and resource conservation worldwide. Being presented this award is a very high recognition, for ENERGY GLOBE is an internationally recognized trade mark for sustainability.

The national Energy Globe Award Greece 2015 was awarded to the project “More microgrids - advanced architectures and control concepts for more microgrids" of National Technical University of Athens. Shortly summarized the project focuses on: In this project field tests on 6 test sites and 2 large laboratories have been undertaken aiming to examine the performance of various aspects of micro grid operation to encourage its future use. As part of this year’s World Environment Day the project was also presented by Energy Globe as part of a global online campaign (www.energyglobe.info) to a wide audience. The campaign ran under the patronage of UNESCO and in cooperation with UNEP and received great recognition and a large echo.
