Dr. Vasileios Kleftakis received his Diploma and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). His Ph.D. research area was LVDC systems focusing on DC Microgrids and DC railway systems. His research interests also include: Real-Time simulation, Distributed Generation, Microgrids, management of regenerative energy (braking energy) and storage integration into DC railway systems. He was a member of CIGRE WG C6.30 “The Impact of Battery Energy Storage Systems on Distribution Networks”. Moreover, he was a member at IEC System evaluation Group committee (IEC-SEG4) with title ”Low Voltage Direct Current Applications, Distribution and Safety for use in Developed and Developing Economies”. He has participated in several European projects (e.g. Sustainable, DERri, NobelGrid) and national projects.

Dimitrios Lagos received his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2015. The title of his thesis is "Study of Inverter Control Algorithms and Control Hardware in the Loop simulation". He is working as a junior researcher at the laboratory of Electrical Power Systems and his research interests are: real time simulations (Hardware in the Loop), power electronics control, distributed generation and microgrids. He is a member of the technical chamber of Greece (TEE).

Despina Koukoula received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2008, and the Master of Sciences in Energy Production and Management from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) as well in 2010. Since 2011 she working at the Electric Power Division of NTUA in the area of Distributed Energy Resources. Her research interests include smart meters, distributed algorithms for demand management/ local load and dispersed generation balancing and the evolvement of distribution networks into smart grids. She has worked as a project engineer in PVs, and in PCC concerning electrical energy production management of non-interconnected islands. She is member of the technical chamber of Greece (TEE).

Panos Kotsampopoulos received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece in 2010 and the PhD degree on distributed energy resources in 2017 from the same school. Since 2010 he has been working on research projects at the Smart RUE research group of NTUA, where he is currently a senior researcher. He was a guest researcher at the Austrian Institute of Technology AIT (Vienna) in 2012 and 2013. He has participated in European research projects as principal investigator for ICCS-NTUA (ERIGrid, DERri, EDDIE), as a researcher (Nobel Grid, Sustainable, DERlab) and in national projects with PPC/HEDNO. He is responsible for the development of the laboratory infrastructure of the Electric Energy Systems Laboratory of NTUA. He is chair of the new IEEE PES Task Force “Innovative teaching methods for modern power and energy systems”. He is an active member of the IEEE PES Task Force on “Real-Time Simulation of Power and Energy Systems” (co-author of 3 papers) and the IEEE WG P2004 “Recommended Practice for Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation Based Testing of Electric Power Apparatus and Controls” (chapter co-leader). He is member of the IEEE PES Task Force on “Contribution to Bulk System Control and Stability by Distributed Energy Resources connected at Distribution Network” (co-author of the technical report) and the CIGRE C6.28 Working Group “Hybrid Systems for Off Grid Power Supply”. He is member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society, the IEEE Education Society, the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Hellenic Educational Society.

He has authored and co-authored more than 50 papers in scientific journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. He is member of the Editorial Board of the “IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy” and the journal “Energies” (MDPI publisher). His research interests include real-time simulation, control of distributed energy resources, power system dynamics and engineering education.

He serves as an academic scholar at NTUA for the course “Introduction to Power Systems” at the winter semester of 2019-2020 and has been participating in the lectures of the “Power Systems Analysis II” course of NTUA since several years. He is chair of the IEEE Greece Section Young Professionals affinity group for the year 2020-2021. He is also finalizing his studies at the School of Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is co-founder of the energy community/cooperative “Collective Energy”.

Evangelos Karfopoulos received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece in 2006. He received the PhD degree for his research on the "Optimal Management of Electric Vehicles for their efficient and effective integration into electricity networks", in 2017 from the same school. Since 2008, he works as researcher at the Electric Power Devision of NTUA in the e-mobility area, distributed optimization algorithms and java programming. He has actively participated in several European projects (e.g. MERGE, Integral, FastInCharge, Cotevos, SHARQ) and national projects with HEDNO. He has been employed by the Public Power Corporation and the Hellenic Distribution System Operator as researcher on e-mobility aspects and metering specifications.Currently, he is a senior researcher at the Smart RUE research group of NTUA and serves as a tutor in Power System Analysis courses. Moreover, he is external consultant of the HEDNO for e-mobility aspects since 2016. His research interests include development of integrated management systems and techniques for efficient integration of electric vehicles in electricity grids and multi-agent energy systems organized based on distributed management concepts. He is member of IEEE and the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Georgina Asimakopoulou received the Diploma and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens, Greece, in 2007 and 2017, respectively. She was employed by the Public Power Corporation (2008–2009) as an Engineer and by the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (2009– 2012) as a Research Associate to the Electricity Sector Observatory. Since 2007 she is a Researcher and since 2017 a Senior Researcher in the Electric Power Division, NTUA. She has participated in 11 RD&D projects funded by EU (Horizon 2020, FP7, FP6) and in national research projects funded by HEDNO. Her research interests include application of analytical methods for optimal decision-making in the energy sector. Dr. Asimakopoulou is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. <

Panayiotis Moutis received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in November 2007. He is involved in R&D projects in collaboration with native and European research institutes, industries and universities in the field of renewable energy sources, microgirds and energy efficiency. He has participated as a teacher in the Energy Academy of the Ios-Aegean Energy Agency and as a tutor in the Power System Analysis courses of ECE NTUA. Since 2006 he has also been offering technical consulting to the sector of photovoltaic investments in Greece from various posts. His research interests lie in the field of renewable sources integration, virtual power plants, microgrids and application of artificial intelligence to power systems. He is a graduate student member of the Power & Energy, Computational Intelligence and Computer IEEE societies and a registered member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.
